About Us

The Brand

Built and based around our signature product, The Original Yardbone, we aim to be a classic baseball brand that represents the iconic styles and traditions of all things baseball from the early days to now.

The Original Yardbone

The Original Yardbone is the ideal tool for "bat-boning." This is a process professional players have been using for decades to condition their wood bats. To bone a bat, a player will rub a hard object, traditionally a bone, on the hitting surface of the bat. This compresses the wood grain, making your bat barrel harder and more durable. This can increase the life of your bat and help you hit the ball farther.

The Origins

The Yardbone is the brainchild of cofounders Jordy and Darcy Szabo. Baseball tradition runs deep in the upbringings of both cofounders—starting with all the siblings playing together from a young age and being coached by their dads in Little League and Softball—a Little League World Series appearance for one, college scholarships for others, and time in the minor leagues for another.

The Idea

Cofounder Jordy Szabo actually stole a smooth, worn, sun-bleached bone from his dog in the yard of his family home to use on his wood bats while playing in the minors for the Philadelphia Phillies. Years later, the idea for The Yardbone was born. Bat-boning is a common practice among professional players still today, but unless you steal a bone from your dog like Jordy did, it's hard to find that perfect bone for your bat. The Original Yardbone is here to help.

The Team

The Yardbone is owned and operated by cofounders Jordy and Darcy with the generous support and encouragement of close family and friends. Baseball also runs deep in the marriage of the cofounders who tied the knot young, in the midst of D1 college baseball and the grind of the minor leagues. They were even engaged on the infield of an empty moonlit baseball field. Jordy and Darcy have two children who also love baseball/softball and help with The Yardbone brand brainstorming.
